How long will it take to get an estimate?

It takes about 1–2 weeks to get an estimator out to the property and submit a proposal.

What is the wait time for a repair or installation?

We are usually booked up between 3–6 weeks in advance.

How often should I have my gutters cleaned and tuned?

During a gutter clean and tune, we clean and flush all gutters and downspouts to ensure proper drainage, check for leaks, and seal or perform repairs as needed. We recommend having your gutters professionally cleaned and tuned at least two times a year. Depending on where you live, more frequent cleaning may be necessary. If you need extra cleanings between professional visits, use a ladder to work your way around the perimeter of your gutters, pulling out dirt and debris as you go. Never get on top of your roof.

What does T & M stand for?

T&M refers to a contract billed on a “time and materials” basis. A time and materials contract is used when a contractor is unable to set a fixed price and timeline for a job. T&M contracts allow contractors to get paid for actual time and materials spent as opposed to a fixed rate, which is determined before a project is started.

Do you install snow retention?

Yes, we install snow stops and snow fences, which work by holding snow on the roof until it melts. Snow stops and fences prevent snow from sliding off the roof and causing damage or injury below. Metal and steeply sloped roofs can create perfect conditions for a roof avalanche, but a snow retention system can protect your family and property.

When should I turn my heat tape on?

Heat tape should be turned on when temperatures drop below 32 degrees (or below 40 degrees in shaded areas). We recommend turning it on regularly during the day and leaving it on for at least 12 hours each time to ensure proper function. On roofs, heat tape should be placed around the eaves and valleys. You can also place heat tape around gutters, downspouts, and chimneys.

What causes roof leaks in the winter?

One of the most common causes of wintertime roof leaks is ice damming, which can be eliminated by installing heat tape to the problem areas. You can also prevent ice dams by installing a roof ice melt (RIM) system.

Another common cause of roof leaks is shingle or flashing damage, which can occur suddenly during a storm or over time with normal wear and tear. To prevent roof leaks, have your roof regularly inspected by a professional.

If you are unable to find exterior damage or the source of a leak, condensation may be the culprit. Condensation on the ceiling can often look like a roof leak. This often occurs when heat and humidifiers are used in the home in winter. If your attic isn’t properly insulated and ventilated, the heat and humidity can cause condensation to form on your ceiling. A professional can ensure your attic is properly insulated and ventilated to help solve this problem.

When should snow and ice be removed from my roof?

We recommend snow and ice removal when snow stacks up more than 2 feet on the roof. This will prevent ice dams, which can damage the roof and cause leaks. Any more than 2 feet of snow is too heavy a load for the roof. While roof rakes are sold for this purpose, it is strenuous work and can be dangerous. It’s best to hire an experienced professional to remove snow and ice in order to avoid damage to roofing materials or heat tape.

What causes a short circuit?

A short circuit happens when a live wire touches a neutral wire. The cause of an electrical short circuit could be old or damaged wire insulation, outdated wiring, loose wire connections, or faulty appliance wiring. You could also experience a ground fault short circuit, which occurs when the live wire comes into contact with a grounded portion of the system (such as a metal wall box).

How do you remove corrosion from water heater pipes?

Pipe corrosion can be caused by improper pH levels, oxygen levels, water temperature, or by mineral and calcium buildup. To remove corrosion, first remove any freestanding water, and then pour 1 gallon of distilled white vinegar down the drain. Let the vinegar sit for about 30 minutes, then scrub off the buildup.

How long do HVAC systems last?

HVAC systems typically last around 15 years. You can extend the life of your system by performing regular maintenance such as replacing filters every few months, cleaning the system, and lubricating parts.

How do you fix a clogged toilet?

If plunging your toilet isn’t working, you can pour one cup of baking soda and one cup of vinegar down the drain to loosen the clog. If your toilet clogs easily, this may simply be due to its age, but the issue could also be the valve, a blockage in the pipe, or a problem with the sewage line. If you’re not able to solve the problem on your own, contact a professional for help.

How do you fix a clogged shower drain?

You can attack a clogged shower drain in several different ways. You can try pouring boiling water down the drain, using a plunger or plumber’s snake, or removing the drain cover to pull out the clog. Another option is to mix a natural solution of 1/3 cup of vinegar with 1/3 cup of baking soda. When it begins to fizz, pour it down the drain. If all else fails, call a plumber.

How do you fix a dripping faucet?

A dripping faucet can be the result of parts becoming worn out, damaged, or loosened. Disassemble your faucet and replace any damaged parts. The problem could also be due to mineral buildup, which you can dissolve and scrub from parts with vinegar. When you reassemble your faucet, be sure to tighten everything securely.
